These terms govern your use of Careers Kenya (careers.co.ke). By creating an account or using our services you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted them.

1. What we do

Careers Kenya is a job-discovery platform. Browsing job listings is free. We sell tailored application kits (cover letter, CV rewrite, interview prep) for a small fee charged at the moment of application via M-Pesa.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old, or have your guardian's consent.
• Your phone number is your unique identifier — keep your SIM secure.
• One-time codes (OTPs) sent by SMS or email are personal. Never share them.
• You're responsible for the accuracy of any information you upload, including your CV.

3. Payments

• All prices are in Kenya Shillings (KES) and are listed before purchase.
• Payments are processed via Safaricom M-Pesa (Lipa Na M-Pesa Online).
• Application kits are digital products and are non-refundable once delivered, EXCEPT in the cases below.
• Verified-job refund: if a job closes within 7 days of your kit purchase, the kit price is automatically refunded to your Apply Wallet.
• Generation failure: if your kit fails to generate, your wallet is credited in full and no M-Pesa charge is captured.

4. AI-generated content

Application kits are produced with the assistance of AI models. You are responsible for reviewing the output before submitting it to an employer. We make no guarantee of being shortlisted, hired, or any specific career outcome.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit applications under someone else's identity.
• Reverse-engineer or scrape the platform.
• Use the service to harass employers or other candidates.
• Resell or redistribute kits we generated for you.

6. Referrals & bonuses

Referral payouts are sent to your M-Pesa once your invitee buys their first kit. Success bonuses (paid when you confirm a hire) require basic verification — typically a screenshot of your offer letter or an employer email — to deter fraud.

7. Privacy & Kenya Data Protection

We process your personal data under the Data Protection Act, 2019. We collect only what we need to deliver the service (your phone, email, county, work history, CV file). We never sell your data. You may request export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@careers.co.ke.

• Payment metadata is retained for 7 years (KRA / regulatory).
• Your CV and generated kits are retained while your account is active and for 90 days after closure.
• We use the SMS gateway Africa's Talking and the email gateway Brevo as data processors.

8. Termination

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or attempt fraud (fake hires, chargebacks, multi-accounting). Wallet balances on suspended accounts may be forfeited.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app and emailed to your address on file.
